this question got me 10 extra credit points in my math class
A rope over the top of a fence has the same length on each side. It weighs one third of a pound per foot. On one end hangs a monkey holding a banana, and on the other end a weight equal ot the weight of the monkey. The banana weighs two ounces per inch. The rope is as long (in feet) as the age of the monkey (in years), and the weight of the monkey (in ounces) is the same as the age of the monkey's mother. The combined ages of the monkey and its mother are thirty years. One half the weight of the monkey, plus the weight of the banana, is one fourth as much as the weight of the weight and the weight of the rope. The monkey's mother is half as old as the monkey will be when it is three times as old as its mother was when she was half as old as the monkey will be when it is as old as its mother will be when she is four times as old as its mother was when she was one third as old as the monkey was when it was as old as its mother was when she was three times as old as the monkey was when it was one fourth as old as it is now. How long is the banana?

Hehe stones ... well I hope you made some mistakes somewhere then because it’s all a bunch of rubbish... It all sounds fine until you get to the monkeys age calculation... No matter what you do it wont make sense ... if you cut it up you can roughly skip out everything but this part because the rest phases out against each other... The monkey's mother is half as old as the monkey will be when it is three times as old as its mother was when she was half as old as the monkey If you put in an age for the monkey the mother will never be older then the monkey if the cap is 30 years total, and because of that you'll never know what age your looking for in the calculation ... however if that banana is going to be somewhat realistic in size I would go for the highest age the monkey could get from the facts given witch is 14 years considering the mother has to be at least a year older to have a baby.. The calculation would look like this if the mother is 16 and the monkeys weight is the same… Half the weight is 8 and the banana we don’t know anything about, therefore (8+x=) The result should be a forth of the total weight of the rope and the weight, weighting equal to the monkey… Finally the ropes length in foot equal to the monkeys age (30-16=14) times a 1/3 pound witch is 5.33 ounce (14*5.33=74.7) Then we get 8+x=4/16+74.7 x=14.7 ounce.. The banana weights 2 ounce per inch 14.7/2=7.35 inches or 18.7cm witch is still a small banana but its the longest you can get, and ofcause it’s still only a guess because we can't determine the age of the monkeys mother or the monkey ;D Give me something harder and something that works

well i guess 5 minutes wasnt enough then ... damn then is this the monkeys mothers mother ? ;D Merged by Mattyou cant solve it ... the younger the monkey gets the older the mother gets ... but in that formula its the other way around ... the older the mother gets the older the monkey has to be for it to add up .. Somethings fishy here ... tell me then Merged by Matt...again, start useing the modify button.

The way I see it, if the computers have nothing to do with the doors, and you don't know which is which, then there no question you can ask them to get the answer you need.

Yes and i will tell you the question and explain it for you Okay, you ask either computer, "which door will the other computer tell me is Heaven." Then you go the other way. Okay there's your answer, now to explain. If by chance you asked the Lying computer, You question would make it tell you hell, because the truth computer would have told you the real heaven, so it lies. if by chance you asked the truth computer, it will also point you to hell, because that's where the lying computer would have pointed you.

That is one of the oldest riddels ... its normally about two thieves... I thought everybody knew that one ... And for the monkey riddle how do you determine the monkeys age to be 12 and the mother to be 18 ... As I told you something is wrong with that riddle because if what you saying is true the last part has a fault in the first sentence ... it should be "The monkey's mother is as old as the monkey will .... " not "The monkey's mother is half as old as the monkey will" that halvation gives the wrong result...
